Are you in the position where your current employment status is at risk or is it time for a career change?
Be prepared, as the decisions you make now will hugely impact your future.
Ask yourself the following questions:
- What line of work am I passionate about?
- What do I want to achieve with a career move?
- What do I want in a new position – higher salary, attractive location, career progression?
- What do I like and dislike about my current position – industry, culture, team size, career opportunity?
Where do I see myself in 5 years time?
- Prepare yourself mentally and consider the implications of a career change:
- Be ready to step outside of your comfort zone
- It is unlikely that you will find a role that meets 100% of your objectives
- You might have to take a drop in salary to find the perfect job
- You must be prepared to stay in your new role and with your new employer for at least 12 months
- The first few months of starting with a new employer are always difficult and you will question whether you have made the right decision, it takes time to settle in so don't jump ship!
