Do not put names of your referees in your resume. Referees are valuable to you and should only be called at the final stage of the recruitment process - when it is important, and you are likely to be offered a job if the references are satisfactory. Always advise your referee when you have given their name to an employer or head-hunter so they are well informed and can support your application when contacted.
Consider adding them if your job is unusually dependent on a strong network. Sales directors, business partnership managers, and some kinds of corporate lawyers are worth more with large networks. These help bring immediate business to the new firm you're trying to join.
If you see a note about references in a job poster, make sure to include them. Failing to do so shows that you didn't actually read the description.
