Rescue is a full-service marketing agency with a mission to make healthy behaviors easier and more appealing. Since our founding in 2001, Rescue has been exclusively focused on researching, developing, and implementing positive social change campaigns in public health. We provide research, strategy, creative, production, web, traditional media, social media, policy change, youth engagement and experiential marketing services to government, non-profit, and healthcare clients in over 35 states and provinces, as well as to federal government agencies.
Rescue’s health behavior change marketing campaigns focus on topics such as tobacco, obesity, substance and alcohol prevention; the promotion of exercise, eating healthy foods, early childhood development, and after school programs; and other topics that promote healthy living. Rescue’s behavior change campaigns focus on diverse populations within teen (13 - 17), young adult (18 - 26), and adult (18+) populations in both rural and urban areas, resulting in a wide variety of campaign styles and strategies.

The Job
Rescue Agency is seeking an experienced and well-rounded Web Developer I to expand our award-winning team and aid in the development of cutting-edge websites for various audiences within the public health space.
We are looking for a person with excellent creative judgment and technical knowledge to develop engaging digital and web experiences. A person who can effectively communicate with creatives and non-creatives alike; with the ability to take direction and feedback from multiple sources to create cohesive and compelling websites. Someone with a proven ability to consistently deliver polished, professional work within the project scope.
This is an ideal position for anyone who enjoys working on challenging projects with other highly talented individuals. Applicants must be comfortable in a fast-paced, deadline and deliverables-driven setting.
Day-To-Day Activities:
Own the role of web development lead on team projects, collaborate to develop websites and digital experiences;
Participate in project kick-off and status meetings with creative and other project leaders. Proactively communicate ideas and creative solutions;
Collaborate effectively and closely with strategists, writers, designers, developers, product managers, and QA Team to refine and improve the user experience;
Expertly translate high-fidelity designs into working websites;
Lead development and execution of websites on time and on strategy;
Handle multiple projects in a deadline-driven environment;
Provide quality assurance and attention to detail;
Utilize internal tracking systems and procedures;
Contribute to continuously improving team productivity, code quality, tool, and technology adoption;
Other duties as required;
Required Qualifications:
High School Diploma/GED
3+ years of industry experience
Ability to creatively apply technology to solve problems
Ability to analyze requirements and implement a solution with little guidance
Good eye for aesthetics and attention to detail
Experience writing clean, semantic, and reusable code
Experience working with component-based architecture
Strong verbal and written communication skills
Ability to adjust to changing environments and switch contexts during development
Flexibility and willingness to learn and perform a variety of tasks
Expertise in Vue 2 (we primarily use Nuxt.js to build sites)
Understanding of web animation and various implementation methods
Strong familiarity with Git
Strong command line expertise
Experience using AWS for site hosting and deployments
Experience working with legacy codebases, CMSes, and databases
Familiarity with PHP (Laravel) and MySQL
Agency experience is strongly preferred
Expertise in getting the most out of Nuxt.js
Experience with or desire to work with Vue 3
Experience using JIRA as part of a development workflow
Solid understanding of relational database structure
Understanding of SEO principles
Familiarity with GraphQL
Experience with data visualization libraries
Experience using canvas, WebGL, or any other advanced animation techniques
Experience with managing npm packages
Experience with implementing solutions that are also compatible with IE
Experience using DigitalOcean for site hosting and deployments
Preferred Qualifications:
Agency experience is strongly preferred

Pay Range: $30/hr - $35/hr. Actual compensation is dependent upon a combination of factors including but not limited to skill set, level of experience, level of education, and location.

Environment

Physical Requirements
Able to remain in a sitting position for prolonged periods of time for the performance of duties. Able to read from a computer, laptop monitor, or tablet for a full workday and for long periods of time (typically 8 hours) including fonts of various sizes from a variety of sources. If working from a Rescue office location, able to stoop, bend, reach, climb stairs, and move freely throughout the building. Able to travel nationwide as needed to meet with clients, coworkers, or attend meetings and seminars. Must be able to move boxed work documents, up to 40 pounds, in and out of office for travel by car and by air.
